Remembrace Day Project To Decorate The Church With Cascading Poppies

We’re launching a project this summer that will run through to the autumn, culminating on Remembrance Sunday. The plan is to create around 3,000 poppies; knitted, crocheted, or made from ribbon – to decorate the church with a large, striking display.

As brilliant as our small team has been, we can’t make 3,000 poppies alone – we need your help! Whether you’re a dab hand with knitting needles, know your way around a crochet hook, or you’re a complete beginner keen to learn, we’d love you to get involved.

Drop-off point for now is either St Andrews church Packman Lane (open Sunday and Wednesday mornings) or someone can collect from you – just drop us a message on instagram or Facebook, or alternatively via the Church office.

Don’t knit or crochet but have wool to donate? That would be greatly appreciated too.

Whether you can make one poppy or a hundred, every single one helps. We’re hoping to have the display up by mid-October, so people can come and see it — and if you wish, dedicate a poppy to someone for Remembrance Sunday.
