SERVING GROUPS | Kirk Ella & Willerby

Join the team, take part and volunteer, there’s a place for you at St Andrew’s!

Church isn’t something we just “go to”, it’s something we “build together”! At St Andrew’s there are so many joyful ways to get involved: from making music to making coffee, from arranging flowers to helping with our children’s and youth groups. Volunteering isn’t just about filling a gap, it’s about discovering the fun, friendship, and above all, serving God himself alongside others.

Whatever your gift, big or small, there’s a place for you here, and we’d love you to join in! Together we make church happen!

Please note that some of our serving roles require a DBS check.

Music Group

Worshipping with music during our services

Who?   Age 16+ musicians and singers

Where?  St Andrew’s church

When?  We regularly have a group of musicians who play for Sunday morning services, as well as throughout the year for Sunday evenings, and celebrations such as Easter, Christmas and Harvest.

What?  Love worshipping God through music? Why not be part of the team that helps lead worship at St Andrew’s! Whether you play an instrument or simply enjoy singing, there’s a place for you in our music group. We meet for rehearsals, share plenty of encouragement, and then bring it all together to support our services. It’s a wonderful way to grow in faith, make friends, and use your gifts to inspire others. No need to be a professional—just bring your voice, your instrument (if you have one), and your enthusiasm!

Where?  St Andrew’s church, Kirk Ella.

What?  A smile at the door can make all the difference! Our Welcome Team plays a vital role each Sunday, greeting people as they arrive, handing out service sheets, and making sure newcomers feel at home from the moment they step inside. If you enjoy meeting people and want to help create that all-important distinctively Christian welcome, we’d love you to join the rota. A little time, a big impact!

Supporting the team to ensure our children’s groups thrive

Who?  Age 18+, followers of Jesus.

When?  Either at weekly groups, holiday clubs or one off events depending on your availability.

Where?  Childrens events take place in St Andrew’s church, the Memorial Hall and St Luke’s church hall in Willerby.

What? Do you enjoy seeing children laugh, learn, and grow in faith? We’d love you to consider joining our team of helpers and leaders who make this possible at St Andrew’s. Whether it’s lending a hand at a regular group, stepping in for a one-off event, or helping out at our holiday clubs, your time and energy could make a lasting difference in the lives of our young people. You don’t need to be an expert, just bring a willing heart, a smile, and a readiness to encourage the next generation. Together we can create safe, fun, faith-filled spaces where children feel welcomed, valued, and loved. Why not give it a try?

FLOWER GUILD

We serve Christ and inspire worship by adorning the church with seasonal flowers that reflect God’s creation.

Who?  Anybody interested in flower arranging, from beginners to the more experienced. If you are completely new to flower arranging, please come along. Training and help will be given! We are a very friendly group.

When?  There are three meetings each year to plan for Easter, Harvest and Christmas, as well as an AGM in January. We also hold an annual Coffee Morning. If you can’t make the meetings, you can still join the Flower Guild and be part of the rota.

What?  We provide flowers (although you can bring your own, too) for displays in the church throughout the year. There are special displays for Easter, Christmas and Harvest, as well as Remembrance Sunday and a beautiful annual Lily display in memory of a loved one. We work closely with couples to create elegant displays for weddings at the Church.

Our aims are:

  • To greet visitors and provide a friendly, warm atmosphere, making the Church appear cared for and a centre of happy activity.
  • To encourage the talents we have been given, working in a satisfying and peaceful way.
  • To encourage friendship amongst our members.
